go behind the other pc's monitor and check there
joking, both have to be set on the same Workgroup
Quote:
Net Resources
on the left click on "Look net connections" or something like this
Up on the bar click on "Advanced"
Net identification
Change

Set both PC to WORKGROUP if not already set.
Then check computers IPs, better if they're on the same network (ex. 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3)
Then again Net Resources, on the left click on "Look computers in the same net workgroup" and you should see it.

Lol...it's phisically impossible to make LAN with comps which have diff. 3rd IP octet...
Whatever i just said...shit, english is hard You get me though.
@Max: holla back if you have some problems with it and you will have, trust me. It's windows.
OOOOOOOOOH EDIT
One question: wire or wireless LAN?

192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3 are in the same subnet so they see one each other

Yes. But you wrote it like there was another example for LAN connection. Like 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.2.2 etc. That's what i meant. And btw. it is possible to build a network where 192.168.1.1 is 255.255.255.0 and 192.168.1.2=255.255.250.0 and they will still see each other eventhough they don't have common subnet mask.
@Max: You don't have it i guess. So go to control panel--->network setup wizard (or something like that). Run it, chose the options according to your LAN setup, reboot. Net resources should display now. In "start" above "control panel"...usually. Find it
Wire huh? So how did you build the network? Just out of curiosity
